Rituals

Rituals are as old as the human race. They mark our major milestones in life: birth, adolescence, marriage, aging, and death. They play an important part for our psyche and our society. Western societies have lost many of these traditions and it shows in our lack of ties and maturity as a society. The naming of an infant was a way for the village to welcome and show support for a new member. Initiation for adolescent boys and girls helped them in the transition from child to responsible adult member of the community. Cronings assist a woman in making the transition from the reproductive stage to a time of increasing personal and spiritual power in a celebration of age and wisdom. Retirement rituals can both celebrate a major life change and give new, positive direction to the retiree’s life. Death rituals help the family and friends who feel left behind to celebrate the life and transition of the newly departed, providing important closure for the living.

I assist people in creating, planning, and performing these important rituals. Working in the shamanic tradition, I meet with the spirit elders, guides and Higher Self of the person or people to be honored to create a ritual of meaning and purpose for those involved.

I create the following types of rituals:

  • Namings
  • Initiations
  • Weddings/Handfastings/Commitment ceremonies
  • Cronings
  • Retirements
  • Funerals
  • Other

I am a minister of the Universal Life Church and thus can legally perform marriages in the State of California.
